London, Ont. police investigating after person falls from building, dies

London, Ont., police are investigating after a person reportedly fell from an apartment building in downtown on Saturday.

Officials say they were called around 8:20 a.m. When officers arrived, the person was pronounced dead.

Multiple media sources have confirmed the body as that of London Knights player Abakar Kazbekov.

The Ontario Hockey League and the London Knights announced his sudden passing on Saturday.

“Abakar has been a valued member of the team since 2021,” their statement read. “Our thoughts are with his family, friends and teammates.”

Kazbekov, born in 2004, was 18 years old at the time of his passing.

Police have not confirmed the identity of the deceased.

Officials closed off the intersection of Dufferin Avenue and Talbot Street for investigations, but it has since reopened.

Police say the investigation is ongoing but it appears that no foul play was involved.
