SPEND ONE DAY, HERE AT THE RANCH (FEBRUARY 23RD OR MARCH 5TH), MAKING YOUR VERY OWN FORGING HAMMER (TOTALLY FINISHED AND HANDLED READY TO USE). YOU WILL BE MAKING A 2.5 POUND, CLASSIC ROUNDING HAMMER. I WILL ALSO BE TALKING ABOUT LITTLE NUANCES OF FORGING THAT EFFECT THE AESTHETICS OF YOUR HAMMER, AND HOW THE INFORMATION CAN BE APPLIED TO OTHER ASPECTS OF FORGING. YOU WILL BE PAIRED WITH ANOTHER STUDENT, AND WORK IN PAIRS, ALTERNATING BETWEEN STRIKER, AND DIRECTOR. I SUPPLY ALL OF THE RAW MATERIALS AND TOOLS! PLEASE READ ALL THE DETAILS BELOW, AND CONTACT ME FOR FUTURE QUESTIONS.
MAXIMUM OF SIX STUDENTS
I will walk you through the concepts of forging, and the theory behind all operations. You will learn about:

-layout

-forging

-striking (sledgehammer work)

-grinding

-heat treatment

-making and fitting handles

IMPORTANT! You MUST have forging experience, and be of sound mind and body to take this course! You will be in a hot, dangerous, mentally and physically demanding. swinging sledge hammers and forging big lumps of steel is no joke, so don't treat it as such!

Bring a note pad, proper cotton work clothes and footwear, and PPE (leather gloves, safety glasses, ear protection and a dust mask or respirator).

You must be AT LEAST SIXTEEN years old to take this class.

The class starts a 8:30am, and will probably end at 5-6pm that evening. you have to have a bag lunch that you bring with you in the morning.

There are a few local hotels that are within a few minutes of driving distance if you need accommodations. I would recommend the Wagon Wheel Motel in killam Alberta.

Directions to the ranch, and a google map pin are on the contact page of my website.
The Ranch is 1.5 miles North-East of Strome, AB
